EIUG Congratulates Eskom on the Launch of Eskom Green

(June 10, 2026)

The Energy Intensive Users Group of Southern Africa (EIUG) extends its sincere congratulations to Eskom Holdings on the official launch of Eskom Green, a dedicated renewable energy subsidiary that marks a profound milestone in South Africa’s electricity industry. The establishment of Eskom Green represents a decisive step in the structural reform and decarbonisation of the power sector.

For South Africa’s energy‑intensive industries, access to secure, sustainable and globally competitive green power is critical to preserving industrial output and shielding exports from cross‑border carbon taxes. Eskom Green’s commitment to transparent pricing structures, long‑term contracting and collaborative market participation is strongly aligned with EIUG’s advocacy for a resilient, transparent and multi‑buyer/multi-seller electricity market.

We look forward to constructive engagement with Eskom Green as a key partner in building a competitive industrial base, maintaining price predictability and advancing South Africa’s decarbonisation and economic growth objectives.
